A Sewing Machine Operator is responsible for operating industrial sewing machines to construct, assemble, and finish garments or textile products according to quality standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate sewing machines to stitch parts of garments or other textile products.
Select appropriate threads, needles, and machine settings based on fabric and design specifications.
Read and interpret patterns, blueprints, or work orders.
Ensure seams and stitches meet quality standards — neat, even, and secure.
Inspect finished products for defects such as loose threads, uneven stitching, or misalignment.
Perform routine machine maintenance (cleaning, oiling, minor adjustments).
Report machine malfunctions and assist supervisors with troubleshooting.
Maintain a clean and organized work station.
Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality.
Collaborate with team members to ensure workflow efficiency.
Skills & Qualifications:
Basic understanding of sewing machine operation.
Ability to handle different types of fabrics (cotton, denim, synthetics, etc.).
Attention to detail and quality focus.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to work under supervision and follow instructions.
Prior experience in garment or textile production is an advantage.
Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle repetitive tasks.
Work Environment:
Factory or workshop setting.
Production line environment with targets and deadlines.
Education & Training:
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not always required).
Vocational training in sewing or garment manufacturing is a plus.
